Greys Anatomy's Isaiah Washington's homosexual slur against T.R. Knight was unfortunate but highly exaggerated. Discrimination against any race or orientation is wrong, however there is a major difference when the guilty party is a black individual as opposed to someone who is white.
It is strange that racists such as Bill O’Reilly, Anne Coulter, and Rush Limbaugh are free to intentionally spew their hateful vitriol in all forms, yet when a black actor has a freudian slip he is pressured to go into “rehabilitation”. This is hypocrisy at its finest.
This illustrates how society is structured in such a way that the opinions of a select few are always legitimized due to their tacit support for those in power. Conversely, the others are simply left to the dogs even if their mistake was a mere slip of the tongue, and being a visible minority only magnifies the situation.
